One of the first things that was pointed out to me when I arrived in London was that it was 'very multicultural', at the time I hadn't even noticed;
#1 because I had been traveling for 24hrs and
#2 Melbourne has got a fairly diverse community (but London is at least 5 x bigger- so let's not start comparing).
I think the diversity of this city is what I like best about it, not just the people but the places and spaces, every borough is different.
The last few days I have been wandering about and here are some of the things I have passed by:
The Thames River (Walking Eastward into the centre)
Gordon's Wine Bar www.gordonswinebar.com (just near Embankment Station)- it is so great for a glass of wine and a good seat underground with candles
Westminster Abbey- wow
Tate Britan (Gallery- Martin Creed's artwork EVERYTHING IS GOING TO BE ALRIGHT in neon-

Town Hall Shoreditch
Kings Cross Station
York Way
Liverpool St Station
Being in the middle of London, the week before Christmas if definitely interesting.... It is filled with such a good, bad and MANIC energy- Londoners are rushing about trying to stick to their busy schedule of Christmas celebrations and shopping, filled with cheer, happiness (because of the coming holiday) and absolute stress. It's a funny combination.
The regular well known city rat race has become a holiday race- as if everyone has set their stopwatches to GO and are trying to set a world record. It is fun to be on the other side- watching people swooping and zooming in between and around you..I can't say I always enjoy playing dodgem cars with other commuters- I am not a car and not this jacket isn't padding! So far train riding has been like this:
BEEP through the turnstile..walk fast.....swoop, duck,
BANG (Shoulder in the back)
BANG Someone just walked straight through me
BANG 'Sorry, I really didn't mean to take-out your child'
ZIP Fast down the strairs
EEEEEEEP- Just jumped on in time
WOOOOOOOSH of to somewhere new!
:D Going to recommence my search for a decent soy latte in London (absolutely hopeless at this time).
