Getting Creative on the hill.

Having been a Mt Buller shredder for the last 20 years, it is always exciting to see new, fun events crop up over the mountain. It is even better when it is my fellow ski buddies who are the brains behind them.

Chicks with Stix is an awesome new program that I am involved in this year.

"Girls rule and it is our belief that they deserve to be having as much if not more fun than the boys. "

It's creator, Zoe Jaboor, (a Mt Buller local lady ripper and sought after freestyle coach) decided that girls freeskiing was in need of some support and so she has teamed up with Roxy and Team Buller Riders to promote girls skiing and the chicks that shred around Australia.
The aim: To encourage chicks to get involved in freestyle and competitive skiing- bumps,
freeride & big mountain around the hills of Aus & NZ.

With the support of Roxy, TBR and chick coaches including Anna Segal, Nicole Lewis, Kate Blamey and myself; Chicks with Stix will be running a number of events at Mt Buller this season:
  • Chick of the Week (Team Buller Riders)
  • Freeriding Sessions (July 3rd, 17th & 24th) 3pm @ Koflers
  • Chicks with Stix Freeride Event (September 4th @ Chamois)
Check out the Chick with Stix Faceebook page and their page at the TBR website.

Some photos from the first freeride session @ Mt Buller.

Brainchild of local shred dogs Watkin and Oscar McLennan, SoO Airtime is a video-based shredfest, where the video with the most votes wins.

Say goodbye to hanging out in the rain and fog at the top of a Big Air Comp, relying on the judges to decide on the winner. This time it is in the hands of the public.

"Bolstered by a passion for airtime and an annoyance at the less-than-inspired crop of freeride events in Victoria, SoO Airtime started their own. Enter SoO AirTime 2010 and Open Edit 2010."

The greatest part of this event is that anyone can enter, the more involved you get, the more fun you'll have.

All that is required is a 3min max video, uploaded onto the SoO Airtime website before 1st Sep 2010.

I know I am excited, I have already started filming. For more details check out their website or Facebook page.
