Fall in Utah: All the things I have never done

Generally I see myself as a decently experienced human being for my age- I have been a few places, met a lot of people, drunk a lot of coffee, shredded snow in at least 5 countries and watched the world go by for 23 years. So I was pretty surprised how the last month has panned out in terms of doing so many things I have never done before.

I touched down in the US of A at the end of October- I've done that before I guess, never with a working visa in my passport though! I jumped a CME to Vail, picked up a car and then road-tripped to Salt Lake City, Utah.

never driven 8hrs straight all alone before- my voice box hurt from all the singing

I was lucky enough to make it to the states just in time for Halloween, I didn't go trick or treating but I made sure I dressed up and busted out a lil'- Salt N' Pepa style. The funny thing was that Halloween wasn't just one day of dressing up. It was a whole long weekend filled with shopping, eating, The Rocky Horror picture show, short skirts, furry suits and way too much leg.

trying to find chris the perfect dress and shoes- this kid couldn't understand why he wasn't wearing pants

I've never been to the Rocky Horror Picture Show live performance and been allowed to consistently call my friend a 'slut'.

The cast on stage with Ben in the corner taking happy snaps

Chris in his matching platforms and dress

After the show we had breakfast- yes that is fried chicken and waffles- never seen that one before!

Never met Scooby Doo

I know Walmart is renowned for it's 'people' and the way they dress- I've never seen costumed shoppers in the flesh

I've never seen a rice crispy treat this big!

I've never seen Halloween costumes as cool as these ones

I've carved pumpkins before but never seen one look as good as this one!

Following a night out of frolicking in leopard print tights I decided it would be a great idea to hike up Mt Olympus for the first time. It stands at 9,026ft and then path is 3.2 miles with a 4,200ft height gain. You can understand why I felt so sick when altitude sickness, dehydration and sugar lows started too kick in. Yeah not the best idea but I made it up and back in one piece (although I needed some serious Wholefoods TLC on the way home).

Pip and Megan were very patient with me

Never done that on top of a mountain!

And then it snowed, I was stoked but deep down inside I kinda wanted to keep on watching all the pretty autumn leaves. However, I have never-ever skied during the first week of November, so it was so sick to go touring up Alta two days in a row- especially on my new set up.

My new Marker F12 bindings and Volkl Gotama's- never had so much fun clocking up pre-season freshies.

Looking down into Little Cottonwood Canyon, I danced all the way to work after this little ski

Never giggled for so long in the bathroom

Between skiing, dressing up and making the most of cheap healthfood stores I have been on adventuring and making the most of living at the foot of a mountain range.

First time I have ever been in a hot spring- Diamond Canyon, UT

The view of the SLC mountains from Cottonwood Heights- pray for snow

Don't worry mum and dad- I've been wearing sunscreen

I've never been rock climbing up Big Cottonwood in autumn

The rock was so cold on our fingers we all had to break on the wall at least 3 times to get the feeling back in our hands

And finally I have never partied at the Alta Peruvian to welcome the winter in- I'm looking forward to another epic season! I just need to get a little bit better at shot ski technique- all in good time!

Alta and Snowbird are opening tomorrow and Brighton got going last week- it's on like donkey kong!
