stefan imaging what it would be like to fly above altadawn patrol = early morning ski touring-sussing out the vibe as the sun rises.
Actually today was my first tour for the season, which was perfect as it was bluebird and the ground was covered in soft light powder. It was a late start to touring in comparison to most people but after dreaming about an early morning adventure for a weeks (go figure), I finally got to take my little barons out for a walk.
Despite being so close to the road and other resorts it feels so amazing being able to climb ridges that you stare at all day from distance chairlifts.

looking back at the boot-packWe skinned up the side of Cardiff ridge and then boot packed up the left ridge to find some beautiful morning snow.
gettin's ready- zipped and stripped
failing once again to take a photo of myself
looking down into SnowbirdWe cut 3 laps before 11am, running at a pretty mellow pace, especially after I lost a part of my heel piece. But it was a perfect start to a season of backcountry outings that was completed with 2 victory laps at the Bird. YaY skiing!
