After our first success on Monday and our complete and utter mellowness on Tuesday, Alex and I planned a little bit of a traverse of the canyons. Alta- PC cuts from Little Cottonwood Canyon, into Big Cottonwood Canyone (via Brighton) and finally up and over Park City.
We started across the street from Alta and headed up Grizzly Gulch to Catherine's pass and dropped into a lower section of Wolverine Cirque, traversing from the base to the top of Brighton.
Down the groomers and straight to ski patrol for some blister management (alpine boots were not made for low angle ski touring)! We hung about Brighton chatting with people we met and stopped into the Brighton center to visit Mr Mike C and work out the best way to journey into Park City.
So far our tour was fairly simple, we continued up the southside of Brighton onto a ridge that led up and to the North....not that we were lost or anything but Alex and I decided to try and cut short some of the distance by a little bit of bush-bash traversing.....It worked out.... we made it up to Guardsman's Pass with only minor scratches. However, I did not want to see another tree for at least an hour after ramming them with my head for so long.
Dropping into Park City wasn't too hard, neither of us had skied there before so we had to wing it...leading to a little bit more bush bashing and a bit of a hike up a cat-track. When we finally made it to the top of a lift we were greeted by some mogulators who directed us down too our final destination, Park City and The Corner Store for some delicious waffle fries.
THANKS MARTINA FOR THE RIDE HOME!
