St George, Utah

After a several weeks on the road with the FWT and other adventures, I decided I needed to get away from the snow for a few days.........to the desert I ran!

As well as fluffy, amazing pow, Utah is really well known for it's amazing rocks and deserts. I can't even begin to babble about Utah's adventure wonderland status. But there is definitely a lot to say.

Mr Stefan, my adventure buddy and I packed up and drove to St George, headed straight for the Utah Hills, just out of St George amongst the mountains......and this what we found......

..... no more road, just a flooded wash that had destroyed the road. After a little FWD adventure, we headed to another crag, Black and Tan.

The rock in this area are like nothing I have ever climbed before, I did a lot of a lower angle slab climbing and because of the sharpness of the rock it was way scarier than any over the over hanging climbs.

After checking out black and tan in the morning, we sauntered over to kelly's rock for some dusk climbing before making a campsite and huddling by the fire with our campsite buddies from Montana.

After some pretty low temperatures in the night, way to many dreams about spiders and beautiful dawn, we packed up and made another trip up to the Utah Hills- this time ready to take on anything that stood in out way of The Soul Asylum.

The Soul Asylum is about a 30min walk from the Utah Hills trail head but as the road had thrown a tantrum, we started to hike from a mile or two before. Other than one other car, we were the only people out in the area, with a huge amount of all around and not a person to be seen.

The climbing here was so beautiful, the rock has been eroded by the water in such a way that it has left small smooth finger holds, which you can wrap your finger through the rock and out the other side.

After climbing a few routes we wandered back towards the car and stopped at the Gorilla cliffs for a little play and then dusty and hungry, we drove back to Salt Lake.
